Aromatic Turkish Coffee Recipe

Deep dark traditional Turkish coffee with a whisper of cardamum. Only ten minutes to make an cup of coffee f like Poirot savored on the Orient Express.

  • 6 ounces cold water
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamum,
  • 2 tsp Turkish coffee
  • sugar to taste
  • 1 fortune teller optional

  1. Place the water, cardamum and coffee in your Ibrik or small sauce pan. Add sugar as well but I personally never use it I take mine σκέτο (skeet) as the greeks say, meaning unsweetened.

  2. Brink your coffee to a boil allowing the foam to just reach the top of the ibrik/pan.

Remove from heat and allow the foam to subside.

  3. Return to heat and allow the foam to rise again and again remove from the heat until the foam drops..

  4. Now return it to the heat a final time (that is three times total) and allow the foam to rise to the top. Remove form heat and pour into small glasses or espresso cups. Sip stopping when you reach the grounds.

  5. Upend your cup on the saucer. Now you must find a fortune teller to read your future in the grounds.
